The Future Is Us: Listening to our Hearts as a Catalyst for Change

A collaboration with activist and educator Jenn Frost Moreno, The Future is Us was an art project designed to uplift student voices and inspire change. Using three books as inspiration and guidance, we created a simple printmaking project for all students to create protest flags. The flags were then sewn together to create large protest banners. Each protest banner had a guiding message or phrase in the center, inspired by each class’ overall theme. The center banners were hand printed by me using found materials. The exhibition was shown virtually given the 2020 COVID-19 Pandemic restrictions for social gatherings. This project was created in partnership with Words Alive! in San Diego for their Art and Lit program.
